Joanne is a dedicated and caring counsellor who is proficient in helping people overcome life obstacles, meet their goals, build self-esteem and a strong personal identity, develop resilience and coping skills, and improve their mental health and spiritual wellbeing.  Her areas of specialty include counselling for depression, suicidal ideation and self-harm, anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, neurodiversity issues, and trauma and abuse issues.

Joanne uses evidenced based counselling modalities such as CBT, DBT and ACT and is currently working on gaining certification in EMDR, but since each person is unique, works collaboratively with the people she sees to develop a treatment plan that makes the most sense to that person.

Joanne graduated with her Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012, but prior to that she worked in a variety of community agencies addressing family violence, career planning, community development and crisis intervention and mental health support. She enjoys ongoing learning opportunities and in her spare time enjoys pets, painting with alcohol inks and spending time with her family and friends.
