Our Story
Selah Counselling, Mediation, and Training Center (formerly Tina J. Smith & Associates Counselling & Psychotherapy) was founded by Tina J. Smith, a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist. In 2011, she established her first practice, Tina J. Smith Counselling & Psychotherapy. Over time, she transitioned the practice to Tina J. Smith & Associates Counselling & Psychotherapy, which facilitated the development of new therapists and increased support for the community.
Meet Tina
Tina understands that no one is exempt from painful experiences, whether they stem from our own choices or the choices of others. Everyone has stories that can influence the path they walk, often only two stories away. Tina wants these stories to transform from feelings of shame and guilt into hope, helping others on their healing journeys. Through her own experiences with suffering and her healing process, she has developed deep compassion and empathy. We are all human, longing for life to be easier, but having someone to walk alongside you on your healing journey is one of the most courageous steps you can take. Throughout Tina's life, she has faced her own challenges, including abuse, divorce, spiritual trauma, and her son battling relapsed childhood cancer. She strongly believes that counselling should be a part of life's journey when hardships throw you off course. We were never meant to walk alone in our healing. We all need help, as our blind spots can only be uncovered through safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate relationships, which are essential to our healing process.
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
We can help.
