Tina Smith is a passionate and deeply committed mental health professional, author, business coach, and emerging mediator with over 25 years of experience walking alongside individuals, families, and leaders through their healing and growth journeys. She is the Founder and Director of Selah Counselling, Mediation & Training Center (formerly Tina J. Smith & Associates Counselling & Psychotherapy) and the Selah Treatment Center, a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to trauma-informed and treatment.

Tina is also a published author and continues to develop her voice through writing. She is currently working on her second book, a deeply personal and empowering work for leaders who have faced adversity, accusation, false narratives, and the weight of their own failures. This new book speaks to the journey of rising again—of healing, restoring integrity, and rediscovering purpose even when the path has been painful. Through her writing, Tina extends hope and perspective to those navigating some of the hardest seasons of leadership, offering language and insight for the road ahead.

As a Registered Social Worker, Certified EMDR Therapist, and EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Tina brings a rich tapestry of clinical expertise, compassionate leadership, and heartfelt presence to all she does. Her diverse experience spans in-custody and community-based youth programs, children’s mental health organizations, psychiatric facilities, and private practice settings, where she has supported individuals, couples, and families with empathy and excellence.

Tina’s clinical specialty lies in trauma and attachment work with both youth and adults. Her dedication to her clients and her team is matched by her commitment to continuous professional development. She actively engages in ongoing consultation and training with leaders in the field, ensuring that her work remains grounded in best practices and relational integrity.

Tina is known for creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where healing is possible—where people feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. She is often found laughing, crying, and celebrating alongside her clients, believing that transformation begins with a genuine connection and the unwavering presence of someone who cares.

As her journey evolves, Tina has embraced mediation as a powerful extension of her commitment to relational healing. She is currently becoming an accredited mediator, driven by a desire to give every person a voice that is heard and supported in even the most complex and conflict-ridden situations. Whether in the context of employment, business, church communities, or family law matters, Tina believes that mediation offers a more humane and hopeful alternative. Inspired by her trainer Jennifer Suzor, LL.B., AccFM, AccIG, CPMed—"mediation looks to untie, rather than cut"—Tina seeks to help individuals navigate conflict with dignity, respect, and balance.

Tina is also the visionary behind a growing initiative: business coaching for women in leadership. Having walked alongside many women in positions of influence, Tina has seen firsthand the unique challenges, isolation, and internal conflicts that can arise on the leadership path—especially when voices from within or outside the team create tension. Her coaching is designed to empower women to lead with clarity, confidence, and compassion. She is deeply passionate about helping women rise in their gifts, pursue their dreams, and build businesses they love. Through her coaching, Tina offers a space where women can reconnect with their vision, find rest in the midst of responsibility, prioritize wellness, and remain steadfast in building purpose-driven lives and organizations.

At the heart of everything Tina does—whether in therapy, mediation, authorship, or business coaching—is a belief in the transformative power of hope, connection, and wholehearted living. Her work is shaped by her own personal journey of healing, reflection, and growth. She lives by the understanding that to love and lead well, we must first look in the mirror with humility, choose authenticity over perfection, and remain teachable in every season of life.
